Tickets are now on sale for all of our concerts! Ticketing will be handled through Brown Paper Tickets, linked in each concert description below. You can choose to either have your tickets held at will call, or have them mailed directly to you at an additional charge until one week prior to the Festival.

Pianist and composer Timothy Andres is known for his performance of works by his contemporaries and traditional repertoire alongside his own work. His compositions meld a classical music upbringing with diverse interests in the natural world, graphic arts, technology, cooking, and photography. He has been praised for his “acute ear” by the New York Times’s Anthony Tommasini and “stubborn nose” by the New Yorker’s Alex Ross and his debut album on Nonesuch Records, "Shy and Mighty," received widespread critical acclaim. SACRA/PROFANA

Since its debut in 2009, Sacra/Profana has rapidly been gaining a reputation as an exciting new voice in American choral music. The 24-voice ensemble specializes in a unique blend of classic and contemporary style championing seminal work of the modern choral repertoire alongside the newest compositions. Their Festival program will include works by Michael Gordon for which they will be joined by the San Diego Children's Choir and Ligeti's Lux Aeterna. Check out the SACRA/PROFANA event page for more.
WU-MAN & FRIENDS

Recognized as the world’s premier pipa virtuoso and as a leading ambassador of Chinese music, Carlsbad-based, Chinese-born musician Wu Man has carved out a career creating and fostering projects that give this ancient instrument a new role in today’s music world, not only introducing the instrument to new audiences, but commissioning and premiering over a hundred new works to grow the core repertoire. MANTRA PERCUSSION PERFORMS MICHAEL GORDON'S 'TIMBER'

Hailed by the New York Times as "...finely polished...a fresh source of energy," Mantra Percussion is committed to substantially expanding the future of percussion repertoire. By commissioning and performing new, significant works for large percussion ensemble by both prominent and emerging composers, Mantra Percussion is breathing new life into the art and engaging in cross-discipline collaborations to produce evening-length events that look toward a grander artistic vision. CALDER QUARTET

The Festival’s Founding Ensemble-in-Residence, the Calder Quartet has been called “one of America’s most satisfying and most enterprising quartets” by Mark Swed of the Los Angeles Times, and "outstanding" and "superb" by the New York Times. The group's distinctive approach is exemplified by a musical curiosity brought to everything they perform, from traditional repertoire, works emerging and master composers, and cross-genre collaboration. Their program at the Festival will feature the premiere a new piece by the Festival Composers Competition winner, Andy Akiho. Check out the Calder Quartet's event page for more.
SARA WATKINS WITH MANDOBASSO

Carlsbad resident, Sara Watkins, best known for her work in the Grammy Award winning band, Nickel Creek, recently released her solo album Sun Midnight Sun on Nonesuch Records. Sara is a frequent guest on the American Public Media program, A Prairie Home Companion and in the past few years, she has been on tour with John Prine, Donavan Frankenreiter, Robert Earl Kean, Dar Williams, Blind Boys of Alabama and the Decemberists. In between tours, Sara performs at Largo in Los Angeles, where she and her brother Sean perform as The Watkins Family Hour with frequent guests including Benmont Tench, Greg Leisz, and Fiona Apple. Sara and Sean will performing a free concert as part of the Festival on the Sunday afternoon in Magee Park. Check out Sara Watkins' event page for more.
