EVENTS!
Music Walk.
12+ volunteers needed Friday, 9/21
The Music Walk is an evening-length event in which musicians perform simultaneous, short sets around Carlsbad Village. Volunteer work beginning around 5pm and ending around 9:30pm. Volunteers will moderate venues, introducing artists using scripts provided by the Festival.
Community Concerts
6+ volunteers needed per concert Saturday 9/22
Community Concerts are free to the public, occurring between our main stage events. Artists will include our composer-in-residence Andy Akiho performing some of his music for steel-pan, as well as local surf-jazz favorites, The Mattson2. Volunteers will assist artists, distribute promotional materials to the audience, and sell tickets.
5 Main Stage Concerts
8+ volunteers needed per concert Saturday 9/22, Sunday 9/23
These will be the Festival’s ticketed events, featuring amazing performers and composers like Wu Man, Mantra Percussion, pianist Timothy Andres, The Calder Quartet, and Sacra/Profana. Volunteers need not work at multiple concerts, though this would be greatly appreciated. Positions will include ticketing, will-call, backstage hospitality, and ushers.
MORE WAYS TO VOLUNTEER
SHLEPPERS:
4 volunteers needed in days before, during and after Festival
Volunteers with trucks, vans or cars willing to move musical and production equipment in the days before, during and after the Fest. Ideally would be “on call” during the Fest.
CAR VOLUNTEERS
Available during week of 9/17
Those with access to a reliable car can assist in any transportation needs for artists. This might include a trip to the San Diego airport or transportation between rehearsals and artist housing within Carlsbad.
ARTIST HOSPITALITY
3+ volunteers needed (August through Festival)
Volunteers will prepare welcome packages for artists, a 'guide' to the Festival and Carlsbad area for visiting artists, arrange for catering and food at Festival venues, and identify potential 'hangouts' for artists in the village.
PRE-FESTIVAL MARKETING
5 volunteers needed (late August into early September)
These volunteers will assist the Festival marketing staff with distributing posters and flyers around North County and San Diego, to high traffic areas such as coffee shops, restaurants, libraries, schools, public parks and concert venues. One morning will be dedicated to distributing flyers to the Carlsbad Village area, but the other outreach can be determined by the individual volunteers. The expected time commitment for these volunteers will be one to two mornings at the end of August or beginning of September.
DATA GATHERING
2 volunteers needed (August and potentially during Festival weekend)
These volunteers will work with Festival marketing manager in August to help develop a strategy for capturing data from the Festival, including both general demographic data and also capturing names and email addresses of festival goers. Volunteers with interest or experience in survey design or statistics are encouraged to sign-up.
