Todd Reynolds is known as one of the founding fathers of the hybrid-musician movement and one of the most active and versatile proponents of what he calls ‘present music’. For years the violinist of choice for Steve Reich, Meredith Monk, Bang on a Can, and a founder of the string quartet known as Ethel, his compositional and performance style is a hybrid of old and new technology, multi-disciplinary aesthetic and pan-genre composition and improvisation.

Vicki Ray is one of the leading interpreters of contemporary piano music. Known for thoughtful and innovative programming which seeks to redefine the piano recital in the 21st century, Vicki’s concerts often include electronics, video, recitation and improvisation. She has worked with some of the most prominent composers of our time, including György Ligeti, Pierre Boulez, Steve Reich, Elliott Carter, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Steven Stucky, David Lang, and Julia Wolfe.

Encinitas-based master Indian sitarist Pandit Kartik Seshadri is a world-renowned force in the field of Indian Classical Music. He attracted widespread attention when he began performing full-length solos at the age of 6 in India. Seshadri began his initial training with Shri Shankar Rao and further trained and toured worldwide with acclaimed guru Pandit Ravi Shankar, and has collaborated with composer Philip Glass and the Brazilian instrumental group UAKTI on the critically acclaimed Orion project.

Adrianne Pope is a violinist, violist and sound maker currently residing in Los Angeles, whose love of playing music by living composers has sparked her enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration. She has worked with dancers, visual artists, writers, and even University of Michigan’s hockey team on new works.
Aurora Borealis contemporary music duo, percussionist Stephen Solook and soprano Tiffany Du Mouchelle, have premiered over 25 duo and chamber works for voice and percussion, which focus on exploring new dimensions within the relationship between these two instruments.
The Decisive Instant is a large ensemble bringing together players from across L.A’s varied underground creative communities to explore compositions for improvisation, graphic scores, and more in spontaneous, experimental playing.
Drew Ceccato (saxophones) & Kyle Motl (bass) duo fuse varied improvisational energies in a dense and quickly evolving dialog. “With Ceccato and Motl playing, no cliche dares enter the room.” (Stephen Malagodi, Spectacular Sound)
Elizabeth Kennedy Bayer is both a contemporary composer and flutist, whose works have been performed at Festivals across the country; including highSCORE Festival, Oregon Bach Festival, New Dischord Festival, and Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival.
Euphoria Brass Band is a San Diego based musical collective that serves up an original mix of old school New Orleans traditional brass band jazz, funky street beats and new school edginess with a West Coast feeling.
G Burns Jug Band plays old American music with an intensity and authenticity rarely heard today: urban blues, mountain fiddle, and popular music of the 1920s and 30s. They have opened for both Grammy winning Bluegrass legend Del McCoury at Seattle’s Wintergrass Festival, and Grammy winning Cajun icon Michael Doucet with Beausoliel.
George Sarah is an electronic composer and multi-instrumentalist, who has achieved critical acclaim for his unique brand of electronic chamber music. Sarah performs his compositions from synthesizers and drum machines alongside live strings, bridging the worlds of electronic and classical music.
HOCKET is a cutting edge piano duo based in Los Angeles. Sarah Gibson and Thomas Kotcheff are both pianist-composers dedicated to commissioning and performing contemporary music. Together, they have premiered dozens of chamber and solo piano works and have collaborated with the premier, new music ensemble eighth blackbird.
Inspired and the Sleep is a psychedelic indie pop trio made up of Carlsbad natives Max Greenhalgh (Vocals/Bass), Bryce Outcault (Guitar/Keys), and Drew Satterlee (Drums). Loop-based demos are rewoven with additional psychedelic/jazz threads to construct groove-centered pop songs.
Jennifer Bewerse, an award-winning cellist, is a devoted performer of contemporary classical music and is pursuing her Doctorate in Contemporary Performance at UC San Diego. As a result of her work, she has premiered over 50 works.
Keith Haman & The Tin Stars play country music with hints of old time rock and roll, folk, and bluegrass on the pedal steel. Keith is a San Diego Music Award winner as a member and songwriter of Whiskey Tango and The Hideaways.
Kourosh Taghavi migrated to the United States from his native Iran in 1984 and is a master of Persian Classical music and his string instrument, the Setar. Taghavi’s passionate and melodic approach to music is the foundation of his many collaborations and recordings with numerous artists performing both the traditional and modern art forms of Iranian music.
L.A Edwards’ solo project tours as a trio with younger brother Harrison and long-time collaborator Michael Reed. With classic, Americana/folk song-writing, world-class musicianship, and a dynamic live act, they will delight your life with original tunes perfect for dancing or making-out to.
La Jolla Chamber Winds trio made up of principal players in La Jolla Symphony Carol Rothrock (oboe), Jenny Smerud (clarinet), and Tom Schubert (bassoon), who introduce novel chamber music to the San Diego community.
The Liquorsmiths are a powerfully dynamic folk rock trio out of San Diego known for their eclectic arrangements, compelling energy and poetic story-telling lyricism. Their sound has been compared to Delta Spirit, Wilco, The Avett Brothers, and even Simon and Garfunkel.
Lou Damian Trio plays creative music with a focus on abstract note selection, rhythm and textural sound, consisting of members Lou Damian, Nathan Hubbard, and Jerome Salazar.
MandoBasso features Gunnar Biggs on bass and Bill Bradbury on mandolin performing new compositions, traditional music, classical music, and jazz. Biggs is an accomplished jazz musician who has played with many of the greats. Bradbury is an Emmy Award-winning composer who is a music professor at California State, San Marcos.
Now Hear Ensemble’s primary goal is to premiere new works by contemporary composers, and is the Resident Ensemble at UC Santa Barbara. The ensemble has performed at renowned venues such as the REDCAT, Museum of Contemporary Art at Santa Barbara, CCRMA at Stanford, CNMAT at UC Berkeley, and Conrad Prebys Music Center at UCSD.
Ogd_S(11) Translation Has Failed makes beat-driven, populist music, using 60’s self-help vinyl samples and old Reagan speeches.
Paper Days’ dreamy wave washed tunes make for a dream-rock quartet from paradise. Paper Days formed in Carlsbad when four friends became family through music.
Paula Karolak is a San Francisco Bay Area based violist. She holds a bachelor of the arts from UCLA where she studied with Paul Coletti and Richard O’Neill, and a masters from SFCM where she studied with Jodi Levitz and Paul Hersh.
Peter Kuhn Trio avant jazz trio led by Buddhist priest Peter Kuhn who plays clarinet and saxophone. He has performed with many legendary jazz players including Lester Bowie, Billy Bang, Frank Lowe, William Parker, Alex Cline, Abbey Rader, and Eddie Gale.
Qamar explores and combines Arabic and Persian music with Western jazz and popular sensibilities, using an amalgamation of all the members’ cultural backgrounds and formal training.
The Red Fox Tails are surfing instrumental spacemen in sombreros, who present a motion picture-like soundtrack that embraces elements of Surf Jazz, Exotica, Groove, World music and more.
San Diego Opera Opera Exposed! emerging vocalists perform operatic arias and ensembles in an engaging and entertaining recital format, consisting of voice students from San Diego State University, Point Loma Nazarene University, and University of San Diego.

Stephen Solook, solo contemporary percussionist, is also a member of Aurora Borealis, redfishbluefish, and San Diego New Music. Steve has performed with Bang on a Can All-Stars, Maya Beiser, eighth blackbird, Bob Becker, David Krakauer, I.C.E., Steven Schick, Lucy Shelton, Glen Velez, and the Jose Limon Dance Company.
