The Festival’s Founding Ensemble-in-Residence, the Calder Quartet has been called “one of America’s most satisfying and most enterprising quartets” by Mark Swed of the Los Angeles Times, and "outstanding" and "superb" by the New York Times. The group's distinctive approach is exemplified by a musical curiosity brought to everything they perform, from traditional repertoire, works emerging and master composers, and cross-genre collaboration. Their program at the Festival will feature the premiere a new piece by the Festival Composers Competition winner, Andy Akiho.
